EDI technology principle:
EDI is an electrochemical process that combines the principles of ion exchange and electrochemical separation.
By passing the incoming water into the EDI module, it passes through a series of ion exchange membranes and electrodes to separate and remove ions in the water, including cations and anions.
EDI equipment also includes an electrochemical reaction between electrodes in which water molecules are dissociated into hydrogen ions and oxygen, thereby helping to remove gases dissolved in the water.
The result is high-purity water, typically with a resistivity in excess of 10 megaohms/cm (MΩ/cm), and often requires no further treatment.
Main component:
EDI module: including ion exchange membrane, electrode and spacer layer, it is the core part to achieve ion removal and electrochemical reaction.
Water inlet system: used to introduce raw water into the EDI module for treatment.
Drainage system: used to handle removed ions and wastewater.
Control system: monitor and control the operation of the entire EDI system to ensure stable water quality.
Pretreatment equipment: Pretreatment equipment, such as a reverse osmosis (RO) system or an ion exchange resin bed, is usually required before the EDI module to remove most of the ions and impurities.
